Grace was born on June 3, 1996. She had a little trouble arriving, as she was trying to be born with one leg over her head. However, with 9 people attending the birth, the problem was solved with a call to the vet, and she was delivered.
"Grace" has one
sock on her right front. She also has a smaller version of the star
and stripe of her sire, Le Champion. Grace got her sire's elegant and refined
head, and a nice neck that ties into a lovely shoulder. Her topline is strong,
and she has a very free shoulder, which she likes to show us when she is
running around bucking and squealing. She also has large joints, good bone,
and excellent feet.
Grace is the
Queen of the property. Everything revolves around Her Highness. The
herd bows down to her supreme royalty, and when she leaves the property for
whatever reason, the herd is confused and unsure without her. She has
the best stall in the barn, with her own window view. Her sister Replikah
is the farm Princess and, as I call her, Sergeant at Arms for the Queen.
When discipline is needed, more often than not it is Replikah who delivers
it.
Showing
Grace has been shown in hand since she was a suckling. She attended her first Dressage Breed show at the tender young age of 2 weeks. Although very young and still not quite straight, she did very well and everyone loved her.
Her next show was when she was 6 weeks. She had straightened out more, and went home with two blues and the Reserve Champion Mare title.
In 1997 Grace went to just two Dressage Breed shows. At her first show in June, she placed third and fourth. Since she was born in June, her growth had not yet caught up to those who were born earlier. She and her brother placed first in Breeder's Group!
Her final show was in September, and she did very well. Grace won her Yearling Fillies class with a 72%, and went home with the title of Grand Champion Mare!
Breed Shows and Inspections
In July of 1999 Grace was the Champion Mare of her ISR/Oldenburg NA mare inspection and is, of course, a Main Mare Book mare. In the fall of 1999, she was named Reserve Champion Mare of the ISR/Oldenburg NA Midwest Mare Championships, beating out several Premium Mares who have scored up to 108 points. We were told to re-present her to try for her Premium Mare status, which we did in 2001 and she was denied it by the ISR/Oldenburg NA in 2001. Hmm....
In the fall of
2000 she was presented to the Rheinland Pfalz Saar International from Germany,
for inclusion in their mare books. Despite having a 3 month foal at
her side and being a little skinny, she managed to score 52 bonits and earn
the PREMIUM Mare title. She also scored 3 points higher than an ISR/Oldenburg
PREMIUM mare. We found out in early winter she was the highest scoring
mare in North America for 2000 with RPSI.
|
September 18, 2000 -- Grace receives Premium Mare award from the Rheinland Pfalz Saar International! Her bonit scores are as follows:
8.0 -- Type, Breed & Sex Type
7.0 -- Quality of Conformation
6.0 -- Correctness of foundations
8.0 -- Walk
7.0 -- Trot
8.0 -- Canter
8.0 -- Overall Impression & Development
52 -- Total Bonits / Premium Mare
We backed her
in the winter of 1999 and then she had the remainder of her first pregnancy
off. In 1999 Grace was bred to the Holsteiner Grand Prix Dressage horse,
Coriander. She produced a Premium filly in 2000, Coeur de Championne HF.

We presented
Grace to the Westfalen Registry in 2002 along with her Freestyle foal.
We intend only breeding her now to either Dutch, Oldenburg Verband, or Westfalen stallions.
We feel the pedigree of a horse is a large indicator of the future success of the individual. It is important to consider the ancestors in the pedigree of each horse to determine their value and potential for future successes. Please use the links to the reference sires to learn more about these horses.
La Championita
is the decendant of two very successful breeding areas in Germany, Holstein
and Oldenburg, as well as the American Thoroughbred.
The Holsteiner influence is traced back from Le Champion through the stallion Landadel to the immortal Thoroughbred stallion, Ladykiller XX. Landadel's sire, Landgraf I, is arguably the best son of Ladykiller xx.
The blood of this stallion is sought after by breeders across the globe yet today. Without a doubt Ladykiller xx is the most successful sire of show jumpers of his breed after the War. Considered to be the best Thoroughbred improvement sire used in his era--moreso than Cottage Son xx, Anblick xx, Manometer xx and Marlon xx.
Ladykiller XX sired 38 graded stallions, 10 of them having progeny winnings of about 100,000 DM, 2 of them having surpassed 1 million DM (Lord and Landgraf I). Undoubtably, one of his most notable sons is the stallion, Landgraf I.
See an On-line video clip of Landgraf I HERE (requires Windows Explorer and give it a 4 - 5 minutes to load)
Landgraf I is a internationally noted sire of show jumpers with the highest progeny earnings in competition from the war to 1992 (>4.5 million DM). He was the leading sire of 1989 and is the sire of Landadel. Landgraf I is one of Ladykiller's best sons. Landgraf I has sired 50 approved Stallion sons, 68 States Premium Mares, and numerous internationally successful show horses. He was featured at the Equitana in Essen in 1975 and was presented jumping a 2-metre wall several times per day. The L-line is sought after in the Holsteiner and Oldenburger registries to produce movement, jumping ability, temperament, and substance, and is often crossed on the C-line (Cor de la Bryere), and the F-line of Farnese.

Le Champion has
the distinction of being the first Approved son of Landadel to stand in the
United States. There are now two other approved sons standing here in the
US (Liszt, who lives in Texas, and Rainbow Equus Meadows just imported
Landkonig, a jumper). In 1986 six of Landadel's foals were sold through the
Vechta auction at an average of 20,000 DM. There are 13 Landadel sons standing
at stud, and 15 States Premium Mares -- figures which undoubtably have increased.
Landadel had the destinction of being the first stallion to have offspring
earn in excess of 1 million DM in one show season!! Unfortunately,
Landadel passed away at an young age. Landadel blood is sought after
in broodmares to improve movement and jumping ability.
LE CHAMPION

Le Champion was the leading foal of 2500 foals in Oldenburg, Germany in 1989. He was imported as a weanling by Lisa DeVito. He had the distinction of being the most expensive foal sold at that time. As a three-year old he was graded and was sent to his 100-day test, where he was the overall Grand Champion, earning the highest score to date (broken only recently in 2000). Le Champion earned a perfect '10' on his canter, and 9's on his walk, trot, ability to work, willingness to work, and ridability. Unfortunately, Le Champion is no longer able to breed. He has two approved sons and several Premium daughters.
F line of Holstein
Another notable
line in her pedigree is the F-line of Holstein. The blood of the stallion
Farnese is brought in by the dam of Landadel, Novella. Novella is by Farnese,
who carries exceptional jumping talent, and his blood is sought after yet
today, through the stallion Fasolt. Fasolt also produced the American standing
stallion, Franat.
The Oldenburg
influence comes in through the Thoroughbred stallion Furioso XX. Furioso
XX was the sire of arguably the most important stallion of his time, the stallion
Furioso II (see photograph). Furioso II sired over 50 graded stallions and
numerous States Premium mares, including Kalla, the dam of Le Champion.
Furioso II sired the international stars F.B.I., Fra Angelo, Feineste Seide,
Fantastic, Furioso 15, Freiherr, Fabian, Filius, Falkan, Fanal, and Freischutz.
His top 6 daughters are Fumira (1973), Andacht (1974), Fichu (1979), Ausnahme
(1983), Kalla (1984) [the dam of Le Champion], and Asiatin (1989).
AMERICAN THOROUGHBRED
|
Grace's dam is the American Thoroughbred, Action Battle. "April" showed extensively in her career as a Children's Hunter at such prestigeous shows as Equifest, Ledges, Barrington, and Lamplight. Her career ended with her last season earning Champion or Reserve at every show attended.
April's offspring have her wonderful disposition, jumping ability, excellent conformation, and very good movement. Interestingly enough, April is decended from the very same bloodlines as the immortal stallion, Ladykiller! The stallion Half Crown, and the mares Love Time and Skip Stone in her pedigree each trace back to the same bloodlines that produced Ladykiller!
April again produced a filly, Replikah, in 1998 by the Holsteiner, Regulus, and we feel this mare has matured into a beautiful, athletic sport horse like Grace. Replikah has produced her first Gold Premium foal, and is for sale. Please visit her on her page!
In March 2000, April produced her last foal, Chloe, a filly by the Holsteiner jumper stallion Corrado USA by the great Corrado I. April passed away in early July of 2000.
Her first foal (and her first Premium foal) by
the Holsteiner stallion, Coriander, from the Holsteiner Verband in Germany.
This young mare is a super dressage type, beautiful mover, and
a superlative jumper. I have kept this mare and she was bred in 2005 to Balou de Rouet,
and she produced Grace's first grandson, a colt named Babalou.
Freestyle for 2002!
Grace was bred to the imported black Westfalan stallion, Freestyle (Florestan I- Parademarsch I - Perlkönig) for her second
and third foal. Freestyle is making himself known on the East Coast
in the Dressage world! The first Freestyle foal, a filly named Fleur
du Championne, was born June 1, 2002. She was sold in utero. This beautiful mare is now owned by a WI dressage trainer, and they have been scoring
into the 70's at Training and First levels (in 2006).
We re-bred Grace to Freestyle for a 2003 foal. She delivered
another stunning filly on May 21, 2003! This beautiful filly, named
Florianne du Championne, wass sold within hours of birth. Congratulations Valerie!

We bred Grace in 2003 to the German Oldenburg stallion Royal Diamond (Rubinstein - Inshallah), who stands in Germany at Gestut Vorwerk and was ridden at Grand Prix by American Lisa Wilcox. Grace delivered a large black/gray colt May 20th.
Royal Diamond,
Rohdiamant's full brother, is an ideal type who is simply riveting.
Model movement, quality, and rideability leave nothing to be desired. This
is the family of the mare Elektia, famous for the Champion Mare at
the 1984 Schau der Besten, Arabella Queen (by Admirand), various
auction horses, the sport horses Let´s Dance (by Last Trump
xx), Ramino (by Ramiro), Zermatt (by Zeus) and the approved stallion,
Creskando (by Corlando). 1996-- highly placed in the premium ring
in Oldenburg. Royal Diamond finished his performance test in Neustadt/Dosse
as the clear winner with a score of 140.65 (dressage 150.93 points.
He finished
the stallion inspection in Neustadt/Dosse with a 145.65 points as the
clear winner (dressage 150,93) with scores of 10 for character, work
acceptability and rideability as well as a 9.67 for the trot.
In 1998
he was Vice State Riding Horse Champion and series winner in elementary
dressage horse tests and Reserve Champion Stallion at the Main Premium
in Oldenburg. Royal Diamond was 1999's Vice Champion of five year
old dressage horses. Royal Discovery, (€ 115,041.00) was the top
priced horse at the 2001 Vechta Fall Auction. In 2002 Royal Diamond
had four State Premium mares and four approved stallions. His son,
Royaldik, won the stallion performance test in Neustadt/Dosse. He
had 31 successful competition offspring. Royal Patina, was winner of
three year old Filly Materiale and Fillies under Saddle classes in
Devon/USA.
Royal Diamond
himself won € 13,328.00 in St. George and Intermédiare I
in Germany. He was awarded the title of Promising Stallion at CDI***
in Zwolle, Netherland. Royal Diamond
is now competing successfully at Grand Prix. At the CDI Stuttgart,
Royal Diamond scored 67.83% and 10th place. At the CDI Oldenburg Royal
Diamond earned a 5th place in both the Grand Prix and the Special.
At the CDI Verden he also earned a 5th place in the Grand Prix. In
2004 at the CDI Hagen Royal Diamond earned a 69% in the Grand Prix, and a
71% in the Kur.
The proven combination of Rohdiamont (full bother to Royal
Diamond) to a Landadel daughter resulted in the stallions Roh Magic, Rabano,
and Rocher H. . The first FOUR horses offered in the fall Oldenburg Elite
auction are by Royal Diamond and he presented a total of 7 horses in this
Elite auction. He regularly presents Vechta with top auction horses! With this similar cross with Royal Diamond
and our mare, the exceptional young colt "Royal Champion HF" was born. He
has been sold as a stallion prospect to Missouri. We are very excited about this colt's future.
