We are pleased to welcome the Throughbred hunter mare Ripley to our farm.  Ripley was bred by my friend Sarah.  This mare is by Sheen Farm's Thoroughbred stallion Ascendant..

Ripley's sire, Ascendant, stood for a number of years at the famous show-jumping farm, Hidden Creek, in Wisconsin, where he produced a number of very famous show hunters including AHSA HOY winners.  He has several daughters in the area who are used as hunter broodmares.

Ascendant is a great-grandson of Bold Ruler.  His breeding also includes Nasrullah (2x), My Babu. and Alibhai, stallions known for producing excellent sport-type Throughbreds.

Ripley's dam, Larhaven Silk, descends directly from Prince John, Princequillo, Double Jay, Count Fleet, Alibhai, Blue Larkspur, Teddy, also excellent sport type producers.

Ripley is a lovely Thoroughbred, a product of very good breeding.  She is beautifully conformed with a pretty and feminine head, good neck, lovely strong topline, and a very nice shoulder position.  She also has very good bone and good legs and feet for a Thoroughbred.  Ripley was called a 'perfect hunter type' at her inspection.  She has a '10' trot for the hunters, and a wonderful canter!

Ripley was inspected by the Rheinland Pfalz-Saar International, the International branch of the  Pferdezuchterverband Rheinland-Pfalz-Saar e.V.  (PRPS).  Ripley was inspected by two members of the PRPS inspection team.  Her scores are as follows:

Breed & Sex Type:  7
Conformation:  6
Correctness:  6
Walk:  6
Trot:  6
Canter:  6
Overall Impression:  6
Total:  43 points, Main Mare book.

We are pleased with her results, as we realize that as a hunter mover, she does not move with quality of gaits equivalent to a big dressage type mare.

The first stallion we have chosen for Ripley is Olivier (or Owillie), a Dutch Warmblood stallion by Idocus - Rowillie v. Porter. Olivier stands at Imajica.  Olivier is by Idocus, who is now standing in the Netherlands and showing Internationally in Grand Prix Dressage, and is on the 2004 Dutch Olympic Dressage Team. Olivier's dam is Rowillie. She was imported to the United States in 1985. She was already a keur mare, and has since earned the predicates preferent (TWICE) and prestastie thus making her the most highly predicated KWPN mare in the United States today.  Rowillie is of mostly Gelderlander breeding, which is the basis of the KWPN sporthorse. To date, she has produced two Grand Prix Dressage horses, three Preliminary or above jumpers, three up and coming FEI horses, as well as successful broodmares and one stallion son, Olivier.

Ripley's first foal, by Owillie, is a big colt we named Outrageous HF.   He is a big colt with a beautiful face and superb conformation.  We expect him to be a super show hunter or a lovely dressage horse.  "Bruiser" has his mother's sweet disposition.

Outrageous was sold to Glenda M from Illinois. Congratulations!

Her colt Soxx Appeal HF, by Sempatico M, born June 7, 2005!  What a flashy boy he will be! His new owner has renamed him Skyliner. He is being raised as a stallion prospect, and will hopefully attend the 2009 30-day RPSI test.

He looks like he was dipped in milk up past his knees, and sprinkled with chocolate chips! He received an 8.4 score for type and was a Silver Premium!

In 2007 Ripley gave us a full sister to the colt above, whom we named Savannah HF.

In 2008 Ripley gave us another filly, a beautiful chestnut filly by the imported Elite Hanoverian stallion Werbellin.
