Updates on two of Grace's offspring (December 12)
We have a few updates on two of Grace's offspring:
La Fleur du Championne, owned by Tracy Kissel, has been doing very well in her dressage showing this year. Tracy and "Teá" have been earning scores in the high 60s and even the 70s at both Training and First level. Teá is a Westfalen mare by Freestyle, out of Grace.
Grace's colt, Royal Champion, or Roo, is reportly doing wonderfully at his home in Michigan. Regina reports that he is as sweet as ever, and he's grown, standing about 17H now. He will be three in the spring, ready to start under saddle! Roo is sired by Lisa Wilcox's former mount, Royal Diamond.
Foals coming in 2007 (October 23)
We have 5 foals coming in 2007. It should be one of our best foal crops yet!
Leolita Ster/Sport is in foal to Sir Donnerhall
Coeur de Championne is back in foal to Balou de Rouet
La Championita is in foal to Routinier
Replikah is back in foal to Stedinger
Ripley is back in foal to Sempatico M
Three of these are repeat breedings, where we've really loved the foals we've had from this same cross!
Babalou sold (October 1)
Babalou will be leaving this month for his new home in South Carolina. Congratulations to Grace S.!

One of my many addictions
Yes, one of my many addictions is jewelry. Especially earrings, bracelets, anklets, or even toe rings. I thought I would share this site.

Thank you to all participants and to the RPSI. Special thanks to Chimera Farm for offering their wonderful facility. We had a wonderful day!

It was a wonderful day at the inspection, with Babalou earning his Premium foal award!
Leolita Ster, in foal!
Happy news! Leolita, the Dutch warmblood mare we have on lease, is in foal to Sir Donnerhall for 2007! Leolita showed in the NAYRC with her owner, also competed at PSG with very good scores.
Babalou goes Premium!
Babalou was awarded Premium at his Oldenburg Verband inspection on Friday! Some of the comments from the inspector:
"He showed us very good trot, an excellent hindend and hindleg, also perfect for dressage, but bred to be a jumper. He showed us a very good canter, and a very good walk, and we awarded him premium."
Updates!
A quick update on the mares! Cece is back in foal to Balou de Rouet for a full sibling to this year's spectacular colt. Grace is giving me a hard time again with breeding, so I'm switching to a fresh breeding and we will try Routinier with her. Replikah is confirmed in foal to Stedinger. Ripley is in foal to Sempatico for a full sibling to last year's colt "Skyliner," and the Dutch mare, Lola, has been bred one more time to Sir Donnerhall. Fingers crossed!
Star Struck has arrived in Arizona and is doing well. His new owner loves him dearly. He's learning to deal with the hot summers of Arizona.
Filly for Remarkable
Chimera Farm's mare Kellie foaled a lovely blue-black filly on June 18, by Remarkable. She has her dam's beautiful feminine head, and her sire's long legs and body type. We hope to have a few photos in the next few weeks.
Update on the Mares
As I have been remiss in updating this page on how the mare pregnancies are coming along, here is a quick update.
Replikah is a good girl, got in foal on one dose, and is in foal to Stedinger! Ripley was also a good girl, got in foal with TWINS to Sempatico. We successfully reduced it to one pregnancy, and so we will have a full sibling to Soxx Appeal in a year! Here is a recent photo of Ripley.
Cece has been bred to Balou de Rouet for a full sibling to this year's colt. Fingers crossed! Grace has been bred to Fidertanz just yesterday, another one to keep the fingers crossed for. She had such nice foals from this bloodline of Florestan, that I so hope this mare gets in foal. The dutch mare has been a bit of a pain, but we are trying to breed her to Sir Donnerhall. It wouldn't be breeding season without at least one mare playing tricks on us!
Star Struck Sold
Star Struck will be heading to his new home in Arizona in June! Congratulations to his new owner Marie F. of Phoenix AZ. Marie will train and show Star Struck in dressage.
New Balou de Rouet foal!
Our Oldenburg mare Coeur de Championne HF (Coriander - Le Champion) foaled a huge chestnut sabino colt on Monday night, May 8. Everything we were hoping for in this cross!

Eeyore WINS in the 3-foot Division!
From Eeyore's owner:
Dear Stephanie,
I've attached a pic of Eeyore, taken at his early May "B" show. A gal in our barn took the pic.
Eeyore was SUPER on Saturday, doing three-foot with the trainer and with me. Easy as pie, pretty as a picture! On Sunday he was frisky and tried spooking in a couple of his classes. He still got firsts, seconds and thirds, won all his hacks, and was Champion Non-TB and Reserve Champion Pre-Green. Pretty cool for his thre-foot debut with his amateur! We love him to death.
Hollywood update!
From Hollywood's Owner:
I just want to thank you one more time for selecting such perfect parents to create Hollywood!! He is doing SOOOO well!! He makes it easy to be a first time horse trainer, because he is so curious and wants to learn. We take long walks off of the farm, now. Blue tarps are a piece of cake. He has learned to jump ditches in a field. And when I lead him, he leads perfectly at my shoulder. If I stop, he stops immediately and backs up two steps. I only need to move my shoulder forward for him to get the signal to walk again. I keep pouring over the books to see what else I can teach him, because he is such a perfect student, and so friendly and lovable.
RPSI 2006 Inspection
Our 2006 inspection date is set. Set aside August 17 to join us in a fun-filled day. Again we have asked Chimera Farm to co-host the event. Last year's inspection was also held at Chimera Farm. This year we will again have our Exhibitor's Party here at Hopeful Farm, however this year we plan to have it the evening BEFORE the inspection, August 16, around 5:30. Please let me know if you plan to attend, so I can be sure to have enough food!
Leolita arrived!
Leolita has arrived! She is settling in to her new home. We hope to breed her and the other open mares late April.
Lyrical's photo in the GOV magazine "The Oldenburg Horse"
Lyrical's photo made it into the GOV magazine "The Oldenburg Horse," the quarterly publication for the Oldenburg Horse Breeders Society in North America. Check her out on page 17, as well as the report on the inspection on the same page. The issue is 2006Q1.
New Mare to arrive in March!
We are thrilled to announce a new mare will arrive in March! Our good friend Katie, from Illinois, is off to Europe this fall which leaves us with the opportunity to lease her small tour mare, Leolita. Leolita, or 'Lola,' is an imported Ster Dutch warmblood mare by Gershwin (Voltaire - Nimmerdor) - Woldstreek - Makelaar. Katie and Lola competed successfully to Prix St. George.
Tigger in training
We brought Tigger over to the boarding facility to begin his training. He's spending a few days settling in and learning about his new home. He is beginning his ground work in preparation for being backed in April. We've had a flood of interest on this exceptional youngster. With his super temperament and outstanding movement, we don't expect him to stay with us long once he's started! If you would like to see his video, visit our sales page.
Happy New Year (Jan 6)
Happy New Year! Another year has passed and we'd like to thank our customers who have purchased horses from us. Please keep in touch and let us know how they are doing!
We are finalizing our 2006 breeding plans for the girls. Ripley, our TB mare, has another date with Sempatico M, who sired her gorgeous 2005 colt Soxx Appeal. As for the other ladies, well, I'm still trying to make up my mind!
The 2005 news has been archived.
2005 Recap
We enjoyed a super 2005. Despite the drought wreaking havok for our breeding plans, we still enjoyed a good 2005. Our foals were awarded premium awards at their inspections. We saw several of our well-bred horses move on to new homes.
We continued to make improvements to the farm, finishing the stalls in the new barn, and adding some fencing on the corner of the property which will one day be the mare and foal turnout.
